Another wave of Covid for the San Franciscio Bay Area (April 12, 2021)

 

The number of Covid cases in the Bay Area (and according to news reporting, other places) are perking up again. With the positives reported by the media about Covid vaccination rates, despite it still being ways to go, people and the government are feeling optimistic. Restrictions are being lifted, and people are going out regardless.

In regards to the size of this coming wave, it would be a function of how quickly the population gets vaccinated and how much of the population decides that this is fine and starts to live "normally" again. I don't have the data to model this, I would at least need data from a similar disease that requires vaccination to do a very rough estimate.

But the big picture is, the chart is showing a start of a potentially new wave, and given what we know of our situation, it very likely is a new wave.

Coronavirus daily cases and deaths dashboard for California Bay Area (December 23, 2020)

Below is a dashboard detailing California Bay Area counties Covid19 cases and deaths. I find plotting daily changes of cases and death useful in thinking about trends, but the Covid dashboards I have come across do not do this. 

I also like to check Bing's search result sidebar at https://www.bing.com/search?q=covid%20san%20francisco sometimes, and the data there matches up with my dashboard depending on when you check the website. I.e., Bing and I probably both use the Worldometers.info data.

All I did here is to use the template I have for the country level data and apply to the county level data that are now available at https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus. You can find more information on my country level dashboard in a prior post.
